What is 2048 Cupcakes?
2048 Cupcakes is a free, browser-based version of the classic 2048 sliding-tile puzzle, reskinned with cupcakes and other treats. Instead of merging numbers, you slide the board to combine two matching cupcakes into the next treat up — two Cupcakes become a Cookie, two Cookies a Doughnut, and on up the ladder. Reach the 2048 cupcake to win, then keep going for a higher score. It runs instantly in your browser, with no accounts and no installs.
How it works
Slide with the arrow keys, WASD, or a swipe; every cupcake moves in that direction, and matching pairs merge. A new cupcake appears after each move, so the board slowly fills — the real challenge is keeping it organised. New to it? The how-to-play guide covers the rules and controls, and the cupcake list shows every treat in order.
What makes it different
- Two skins — Classic photographic cupcakes and a New set of variety treats — sharing the exact same gameplay.
- Quality-of-life touches: undo, endless mode past 2048, a light/dark theme, and mute-able sound.
- A global leaderboard, achievements, a daily challenge, and a shareable score card.
- No ads, no sign-up, and your progress saved locally on your device.
Who we are
We're a small, independent team that loves well-crafted little games. 2048 Cupcakes started as a labour of love — a fresh, tasty spin on a puzzle we couldn't stop playing. There's no big company behind it: just a game we wanted to make as polished and pleasant as possible.
Built with
Astro, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS — a fast static site with a tiny, framework-free game engine. It's an independent project, not affiliated with any other 2048 variant.
